The first volume collects Imhoof-Blumer’s studies of civic and dynastic coinages in northwestern and western Asia Minor. Rather than a continuous museum catalogue, it concentrates on rare or unpublished specimens, corrected attributions, magistrate names, local eras, and iconographic problems. Researchers can use its precise descriptions and plates to identify variants, recover evidence from private collections, and understand the basis of many later city-level classifications.

Because the work was assembled before many excavations and modern provincial corpora, verify city attributions, local eras, magistrate readings, and authenticity. When possible, trace cited private specimens to later sales or museum accessions.
