Imhoof-Blumer’s Monnaies grecques publishes and reassesses Greek coins from numerous regions, with seven plates and characteristic attention to exact legends, civic geography, magistrates, and local iconography. The book is useful for rare or unique specimens, corrections to earlier catalogues, and coins then held in private collections. Many later attributions derive from these concise studies, so the original argument and plate should be checked when a modern reference cites only Imhoof.

Because the work predates much of the modern archaeological, die-study, epigraphic, and provenance evidence, verify dates, mint or ruler assignments, legend readings, authenticity, and current specimen locations against current corpora and databases.
