The third Hunterian volume treats the eastern Greek world and Hellenistic kingdoms, including extensive Anatolian civic material, Seleucid and Ptolemaic issues, Cyrenaica, and Parthia. It is useful for dynastic sequences, local legends and eras, monograms, mint attributions, and the provenance of specimens from older private collections. Plates and precise weights can help identify coins whose modern records are incomplete.

Because the Hunterian collection and scholarship have developed since publication, verify inventory numbers, current locations, mint assignments, dates, and readings against the University of Glasgow’s present records and modern regional or dynastic corpora.
