The second Hunterian volume covers mainland and insular Greece, including federal, sanctuary, civic, and island coinages. Its specimen-level catalogue is valuable for weights, ethnic legends, magistrates, variant types, plates, and collection provenance. Researchers can use it both to resolve “Hunter” citations and to compare the Glasgow holdings with the parallel classifications used in BMC and contemporary European catalogues.
Because the Hunterian collection and scholarship have developed since publication, verify inventory numbers, current locations, mint assignments, dates, and readings against the University of Glasgow’s present records and modern regional or dynastic corpora.
