Newell investigates the identification of Myriandros and Alexandria kat’Isson through coin types, monograms, hoards, geography, and historical sources. The monograph is a useful case study in distinguishing neighboring Hellenistic mints and in the early development of Newell’s die- and hoard-based methodology. Researchers can use it to understand legacy attributions in Alexander and successor coinage and to trace the specimens on which the argument depended.
Because the work predates much of the modern archaeological, die-study, epigraphic, and provenance evidence, verify dates, mint or ruler assignments, legend readings, authenticity, and current specimen locations against current corpora and databases.
