This historical volume surveys the earliest coinages of western Asia Minor and the Achaemenid sphere, including Lydian electrum and royal issues, Persian darics and sigloi, and the civic coinages of Ionia, Aeolis, and Mysia. Its synthetic discussions, references to collections, and extensive typological comparisons are useful for tracing early attributions, metrological systems, and the historiography of coinage origins.
