American Journal of Numismatics, vols. 26–28, covers several consecutive issues of the first series. These volumes capture the transition toward more specialized American numismatic scholarship while retaining the journal’s strong documentary character. For Greek coinage, consult articles and notes together with auction records, collection notices, correspondence, and bibliographic sections. They can preserve early provenances, obsolete collection names, and first reports of types later absorbed into standard corpora. Use the original issue and page number, rather than only the bound-run title, when citing a specific item.

Because much of the material predates relevant archaeological evidence and modern standards of provenance documentation, verify dates, mint assignments, typologies, reported findspots, and ownership histories against current scholarship and surviving collection records.
