Pellerin’s Recueil de médailles de rois publishes royal coins that he considered unpublished or little known, with engraved plates and historical commentary. It includes Seleucid, Ptolemaic, Mithridatid, Cappadocian, Bithynian, Parthian, and other dynastic issues. Researchers can use it to identify the earliest printed record of rare types, follow eighteenth-century ruler attributions and monogram readings, and trace specimens from Pellerin’s cabinet before its later dispersal.

Because the work predates much of the modern archaeological, die-study, epigraphic, and provenance evidence, verify dates, mint or ruler assignments, legend readings, authenticity, and current specimen locations against current corpora and databases.
