Noe examines the beginning of cistophoric coinage through literary accounts of Roman triumphs and the monetary terms used in them. His discussion separates cistophori from Attic tetradrachms and other named denominations. Read it alongside the later monograph on early cistophoric coinage to follow the development of the chronological argument.
