Newell reconstructs the coinages of Demetrius Poliorcetes by combining portraits, types, monograms, hoards, and die links across a mobile network of royal mints. The eighteen plates and emission sequence make the work useful for mint attribution, chronology, the interpretation of naval and divine imagery, and the identification of individual dies. It is also a key example of the early ANS method that turned large private and institutional collections into a historical mint study.

Because the work predates much of the modern archaeological, die-study, and provenance evidence, verify chronology, mint and ruler assignments, legend readings, authenticity, and present specimen locations against current corpora and databases.
