The third Berlin catalogue documents the museum’s extensive Greek coin holdings from Asia Minor. Organized by region and mint, it records metals, weights, legends, magistrates, rulers, and reverse types, and often preserves acquisition or former-collection information. Researchers can use it to identify specimens cited in older German scholarship, recover readings from coins that have since been reattributed, and trace the development of the Berlin cabinet’s Anatolian collection.
Because the catalogue predates later acquisitions, wartime losses, revised inventory systems, and modern die studies, verify every specimen, provenance, mint assignment, and legend against the current Berlin Münzkabinett database and recent regional literature.
