The first Berlin catalogue records the museum’s Greek holdings from the northern Black Sea, lower Danube, Thrace, Macedonia, and Paeonia. Entries give metal, denomination, weight, legends, types, rulers or magistrates, and acquisition information, with plates and indices for comparison. It is useful for identifying specimens cited simply as “Berlin,” checking nineteenth-century readings, and reconstructing the early state of a collection that has since been enlarged and reorganized.

Because the catalogue predates later acquisitions, wartime losses, revised inventory systems, and modern die studies, verify every specimen, provenance, mint assignment, and legend against the current Berlin Münzkabinett database and recent regional literature.
