Troxell studies the Macedonian silver and gold associated with Alexander the Great through catalogues, die connections, and hoard evidence. The first part examines the Amphipolis silver sequence, including fractions and later issues in the name of Philip II; the second treats Alexander’s lifetime gold staters and distaters. The arrangement makes the work useful for comparing relative issue sequences with arguments about absolute chronology and mint attribution.
