Catalogue of Indian Coins in the British Museum: Greek and Scythic Kings of Bactria and India

Gardner catalogues the British Museum’s Graeco-Bactrian, Indo-Greek, Indo-Scythian, and related royal issues, with eighteen plates and entries organized by attributed ruler. It is useful for early portrait and monogram classifications, Greek and Kharoshthi legend readings, denomination and weight data, and the museum provenance of important specimens. The volume also documents the ruler sequence and historical framework assumed before the major twentieth-century revisions of Bactrian and Indo-Greek chronology.

Because the work predates much of the modern archaeological, die-study, and provenance evidence, verify chronology, mint and ruler assignments, legend readings, authenticity, and present specimen locations against current corpora and databases.
