This volume catalogues the British Museum’s holdings from Galilee, Samaria, Judaea, and neighboring Palestine. It concentrates on Persian, Hellenistic, Hasmonaean, Herodian, Jewish, and Roman provincial issues; useful for scripts, local rulers, eras, denominations, and the early museum documentation of historically sensitive series. Entries normally record metal, denomination, weight, diameter, legends, types, rulers or magistrates, acquisition data, and cross-references, while the plates preserve the appearance of many frequently cited specimens.
