The Numismatic Chronicle 1849 is the annual London volume cited as NC 1849. It belongs to the journal’s formative first series, when British collectors and antiquaries communicated newly observed coins, private-cabinet material, discoveries, translations, and correspondence. Greek articles are often short and specimen-driven, but can be the earliest printed record of a type or collection. Search the contents for hoard and find reports: even a short notice may preserve a findspot, composition, date of discovery, or dispersal history not repeated elsewhere.
