Hill offers a compact historical survey of Sicilian coinage, moving among the major civic mints and dynastic periods with particular attention to style, types, artists, and political context. The three plates are selective rather than a corpus, but the text is useful for understanding the chronology and aesthetic judgments that shaped early twentieth-century accounts of Syracuse, Akragas, Gela, Selinus, and other cities. It also provides a convenient guide to the older literature then considered standard.
