This group contains six independent monographs, with especially important studies by Edward T. Newell on the Alexander coinage of Tarsos and the dated issues of Ake. Its twenty-seven plates support close comparison of dies, monograms, dates, and mint signatures. The volume is useful for reconstructing the early development of mint-based and die-linked chronology in Hellenistic numismatics and for locating specimens under old collection names. Cite each monograph separately rather than the bound range.
Because the work predates much of the archaeological and die-study evidence now available, check its absolute dates, mint assignments, die sequences, and reconstructions of incompletely recorded hoards against later hoard publications, current die studies, updated corpora, and verified museum provenances.
