The first Weber volume catalogues Sir Hermann Weber’s western Greek holdings, from Iberian and Gallic issues to Etruria, Rome’s Italian neighbors, Magna Graecia, and Sicily. Leonard Forrer records metals, weights, legends, types, catalogue parallels, and plates, often with notes on rarity and acquisition. Researchers can use it to identify coins cited as “Weber,” reconstruct the collection’s provenances, compare incuse and Sicilian dies, and locate specimens later dispersed through sales or other collections.

The catalogue reflects early twentieth-century attributions and the collection was subsequently dispersed. Verify current ownership, authenticity, mint and ruler assignments, and die relationships through later sale catalogues, museum databases, and modern regional corpora.
