Seltman studies the coinage associated with the sanctuary and festivals of Olympia, combining types, inscriptions, style, metrology, and die evidence across material first published in several issues of Nomisma. Twelve plates make the work useful for identifying Zeus and Hera temple issues, local magistrate groups, and chronological sequences. Researchers can also use it to examine the relationship between sanctuary administration, festival payments, and Elean civic coinage.

Because the work predates much of the modern archaeological, die-study, epigraphic, and provenance evidence, verify dates, mint or ruler assignments, legend readings, authenticity, and current specimen locations against current corpora and databases.
