Prokesch-Osten publishes autonomous Greek coins from his collection that he considered new or insufficiently described, with four plates. The work is valuable for first publication, early ownership, legend readings, and the identification of specimens that later passed into major collections. Because the author’s cabinet was an important source for contemporary scholarship, even brief descriptions can establish a pre-1854 provenance or explain an attribution repeated by later cataloguers.

Because the work predates much of the modern archaeological, die-study, epigraphic, and provenance evidence, verify dates, mint or ruler assignments, legend readings, authenticity, and current specimen locations against current corpora and databases.
