The Numismatic Chronicle 1879

The Numismatic Chronicle 1879 is the annual London volume cited as NC 1879. This volume comes from a period of expanding museum cataloguing and increasingly comparative work on Greek mints, kingdoms, legends, and metrology. It combines formal papers with brief communications, discoveries, book notices, and society records that document the evidence available to scholars before the great late nineteenth-century corpora. Society proceedings and correspondence should not be skipped: they record exhibited coins, recent purchases, queries, donors, and informal observations that may supply provenance or a first notice.
