The second volume compares weight standards, denominations, ratios of metals, and regional monetary systems across the Greek world. It is useful for the history of metrological scholarship and for identifying the source of older terms and equivalences used in catalogues. The work also shows how scholars before large hoard datasets tried to connect standards with trade, political influence, and institutional change.

The work predates modern archaeology, scientific metal analysis, and most systematic hoard publication. Treat its absolute dates, diffusion models, weight-standard genealogies, and historical narratives as evidence for nineteenth-century scholarship, and test them against current numismatic and economic research.
