The book is useful for comparing fabric, weight standards, civic badges, and the relationships among neighboring colonies. It also provides a concise account of the older historical and artistic framework in which these distinctive issues were interpreted.

Because the work predates much of the modern archaeological, die-study, epigraphic, and provenance evidence, verify dates, mint or ruler assignments, legend readings, authenticity, and current specimen locations against current corpora and databases.
