The Numismatic Chronicle 1912 is the annual London volume cited as NC 1912. This volume reflects the early twentieth-century emphasis on mint attribution, die comparison, hoard chronology, and the coinages of Asia Minor and the Hellenistic East. Long studies, plates, reviews, and society proceedings often preserve the first formulation of sequences and identifications still encountered in later literature. Search the contents for hoard and find reports: even a short notice may preserve a findspot, composition, date of discovery, or dispersal history not repeated elsewhere. For a useful citation, record the article author, title, page range, and plate rather than citing only the year.
Because the volume predates modern excavation standards, comprehensive die databases, and many subsequent hoard publications, verify dates, mint and ruler assignments, readings, and reported provenances against current corpora and the present location of cited specimens.
